Ok, let’s be honest: how many photos have you already seen of the beaches of Zakynthos? How many TO DO lists have you already reviewed for your holiday on this Greek island? Zakynthos is over photographed, admired from every angle, and spoiled by friends who have already been there…

Don’t worry: seeing it with your very own eyes will give you unique emotions and will leave you with the memories of its unforgettable charm.

So get ready, map in hand, for the Thalassa Green’s recomended tour!

Thalassa Green is located in the north east part of Zakynthos, precisely by the fishing village of Agios Nikolaus, so if you are an early riser you cannot miss the beautiful sunrise over the sea; a short stroll from your lodge and you’ll be at the beach.

From here ferries depart daily for Kefalonia, as well as boat trips to the Blue Caves and the Navagio.

Further to the north we find Cape Skinari, the northern tip of the island, truly deserving a visit to admire the sunset and the beautiful staircase leading to the blue  sea. Pack your swimwear because the water here is absolutely wonderful.

We then pass the village of Volimes and head south, with a stop at the monastery of San Giorgio for a visit and a chat with the monks.

Let’s not forget about  Navagio, the shipwreck beach, whose breathtaking views from the cliffs above show a landscape where metal, sand, sea and sky merge to give a spectacle of colors that only nature can offer.

And then off to Cambi, where the sunset is king and where you will be definitely find yourself is awe so much beauty.

Further south, we head towards Porto Limnionas and its heavenly fjord, where the snorkel is a must and you’ll loose yourself among the rocks and the sea.

And so we got the southern tip, Keri, and its lighthouse, Limni Keri, with its faraglioni cliff rocks and its gulf, which stretches all the way through Laganas and its long beach, up to Gerakas beach.

It would take a whole long post to talk about Gerakas, the beach where turtles lay eggs: a wonderful sunkissed bay (enjoys all-day-long sun light), with fine sand and shallow waters, surrounded by an incredible cliff, which becomes OFF LIMITS after the sun goes down.

Heading north again, towards Zante city, we’ll find Dafni beach and Porto Mela, a bit of a grunge destination, and the beautiful sandy strips of Banana Beach.

Zakynthos city is a must visit for a lovely dinner, an aperitif, and a bit of shopping, and from there we get to Alikes / Alykes beach, a long beach of fine golden sand.  Heading on, we find Xigia, a delightful small beach with a sulphurous spring and, after that, the wonderful beach of Makri Gialos.

What can I say? Have I left something out, before inviting you to head back, tired and happy, to Thalassa Green? Absolutely. And not because of forgetfulness, just to leave you the joy of discovering, amongst the places to see in Zante,  your very own corner of sky, mind blowing glimpse of landscape, and that special cove that is deserted even in August

Be curious and let this magnificent Greek island and its wonderful people embrece you.
